Rachel, my sister and her fiance have always said, maybe like a quarter jokingly, that they wanted This Love by Pantera to be their wedding song. Well, now that they've finally set a date, and put me in charge of organizing the wedding (psychos!), I thought it would be pretty sweet if I could find a piano cover of the song for them, kinda combining traditional wedding with our sightly bent personalities to meet somewhere in the middle. And I found a couple of passable versions. But then I ran into your performance of Cowboys From Hell. That blew me away. And showed me that strings were absolutely the only way to go. Unfortunately, I can't find anyone that's ever covered This Love on violin or cello, nor have I been able to locate sheet music for it. I realize that you are probably far too busy for me to ask you to do it, but I'm gonna do it anyway. Pretty please cover This Love by Pantera. No? Well, it never hurts to ask. Haha, no I was more hoping that you'd know some people that were similar minded to yourself, though perhaps a bit less busy, that would be able to pull it off. I wouldn't be able to pay much, but I'd do what I could. Anyway, hope to hear back. You're awesome by the way.

Rachel:
Like you guessed, I'm super busy, but I'll put the word out and see if any of my rock violin friends bite!

Saw Earthen Grave at Millennium Park. Possibly the best show i've seen. I was blown away by the rendition of Rainbow's Stargazer, i had such a huge smile on my face, i used muscles i haven't used in years, i know because my jaw was shaking, and i can't watch the video on youtube without weeping uncontrollably. Your story is an inspiration to anyone looking for some. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUTgRA5aJys

Thank you so much!

Just recently discovered Earthen Grave. I was totally blown away. Rachel's violin adds enormous depth and emotion to an already heavy sound. Earthen Grave is the metal sound that I have always wanted to hear, and now that I have , it will be on my ipod ASAP

Caught your Earthen Grave show in Schaumburg – was head-banging the entire time! Excellent! I really like the way you integrate the violin into metal - doing twin leads with the guitars, or doubling with them on heavy riffs – a shredding lead break here and there - very cool. So when will we see EG at Ravinia? \m/ (0_o) \m/

Rachel, you were absolutely sublime at Viva Violins this past winter up at Zionsville. I was a 2nd violin player at the concert and I had the most amazing time, experiencing what it is like to play in a large orchestra. I loved meeting you. It was so much fun to play a song with you as well as listen to you. Paranoid was the best song to play. It was awesome! I still have that sheet music and I play it from time to time.

You are a blessing to music. To be able to translate passionate, raging emotion with an instrument as delicate as yours is just amazing. It is also so awesome to have another person come in and blow away some of the stereotypes of metal and rock. Raw emotion can be as graceful and beautiful as you desire it to be. Thank you!

This has probably been said before, but WOW! You can feel the love, the energy, and the beauty in every vibration of the violin's string. I only listened to the rock but I will listen to the classical too. Thanks.

I'm a student at centerville high, the school you visited thursday. thank you so much for coming to play for us. Your work is truly amazing. The audience got so much out of your performance, from the smallest fourth grader up to the senior musicians. It's performances like this that inspire the younger generation towards music. Thank you so very much.

I was a bassist for the Tri-State Honors orchestra. I must say, it was an absolute honor to get to play with someone of your stature and command of music. And any violinist that loves the "darker", so to speak, side of music too, and to express that without fear of negative judgment, is someone who deserves my respect. So, thank you.

Hi, Rachel, I saw you perform with Uli Jon Roth at the House of Blues last Sunday in Chicago and you blew me away. I especially loved the rendition of 'All Along the Watchtower'. I thought when you threw your shredded bow hair to the audience, as rock guitarists throw souvenir picks, was very funny. You Rock!

Rachel:
Glad you liked the show! It was such a great honor to jam with Uli. And now I know that bow hair doesn't travel very far in the air (it didn't even reach the edge of the stage) - oops!

I am so pleased to have found your site. Your renditions of the two Metallica songs have been burned in my head for over 10 years. I only heard them once you, your sister, and another gentleman were live on a Chicago radio show. Those two haunting versions of great songs have stuck with me all this time. Thank you.

Rachel, I just read the article about you in the Chicago Tribune magazine and I wanted to let you know how touched I was by your story. I love classical violin, but I also love what you're doing on the rock/heavy metal side. You have an amazing gift and are on an equally amazing journey. Your music, as well as you, are truly inspiring.

Fred
Sunday - March 30, 2008
Some years ago I had the pleasure of meeting you and receiving your autograph...You have bridged heavy metal and classical music...I watched the video clip on the Tribune today and it was truly inspirational!!! I continue to pass the "Rachel" word to my fellow headbangers...and the response is the same: "awesome".

Peter
I just wanted to thank you for turning me on to classical music. I'm 36 years old and have been a lifelong fan of heavy metal. Metallica and Slayer are a couple of my favorites... I've always found classical music to be boring, but that's because I never gave it a chance and really listened to it. Then one day I heard you on the radio when you played some AC/DC and Zeppelin on the violin along with a classical piece and I was blown away. I immediately went out and bought "Storming the Citadel" and have been a fan of yours ever since. I now have CDs by Mozart, Bartok, Debussy and others alongside CDs by Motorhead, Megadeth and Sepultura. Thank you for broadening my horizons.

Bill
Just wish to say a word or three about how much I am enjoying your playing. I bought your "Stringendo" CD as a curiosity a few weeks ago, and it has excited me more than any other recording I have listened to in a while. Being a longtime metal fan with only the very most glancing and superficial knowledge of classical, (own 1000+ CDs, maybe a dozen of which are classical) Stringendo has opened my eyes into a whole new realm. It has lead me to a curiosity and love for classical that Yngwie Malmsteen could not inspire, and I am a pretty big fan of his. Yesterday, I stumbled into "Instrument off the Devil", and bought it immediately. Thanks to these recordings, I have my first clues as to what classical I actually do like. Thank you for the first steps into broadening my musical horizons.

Michael
I was at your show tonight and enjoyed it immensely! This was the first "classical" show I have been to, and since I knew the names, Vivaldi and Barton, I figured what the hell ...although I'm normally seen at a Dave Matthews Band concert! I just wanted to let you know, not that you need it, that you are doing a wonderful job and you really opened my eyes tonight. I am hoping to see you in another performance soon!

Neil
I finally got to see you perform tonight in Albuquerque! It was awesome! This was my first Symphony and I loved it. I heard you on 94 Rock and had to go. I love music and I would like to understand classical music more. I haven't had a lot of exposure to it. You are so talented, thanks for playing here! Hopefully you will play here again soon.

Spence
I recently purchased "Storming the Citadel" and I find it incredible. I had heard your version of "One" on the radio a few years back and finally picked up the CD... I have always liked classical music and heavy metal and had noticed similarities. Thanks again for an awesome CD!

Peggy
I just wanted you to know that you have been a great inspiration in my life. I play the flute and love Metallica, Pantera, and other hardcore bands. It's really cool to know that there are people out there like me. I considered quitting band, but when my dad got me your CD, I decided that if I stuck to it that maybe one day I could release a flute CD with Metallica and Pantera and Megadeth songs on it. Thank you a thousand times over for being such an inspiration in my life!!!

Theresa
I heard you play on XL102 in Richmond, Va. I thought your playing was great. I never knew violins could be so cool. Thank you for your time and keep rocking.

4G63POWER
Howdy there Rachel... I saw you at Fat Cat in Modesto, Ca, sometime last year, and thought you were awesome! I bought your "Storming the Citadel" CD. Absolutely amazing! I have never heard Symphony of Destruction on a violin. That's one of my favorite songs. You are one of my favorite musicians. Keep up the good work!

Russell
It's inspiring to hear AC/DC and Metallica played in a new way. Hopefully someday soon you'll be in New Mexico and I can hear it live. Best wishes
