Happenings Magazine - Kenosha, Wisconsin

Occupation:
Concert violinist

Birthday:
October 11, 1974

Birthplace:
Chicago, Illinois

Marital Status:
Married to Gregory Pine on June 5, 2004

Working On:
Performing concerts around the world.

The worst part of my job:
Missing cool concerts and parties because I'm on the road.

Favorite pig-out food:
Watermelon. I once ate an entire oval watermelon in one afternoon.

I stay home to watch:
I'd rather go out!

Favorite performers:
AC/DC!!

I'd give anything to meet:
Any of the great violinists of the past, especially those that lived before the recorded era.

The price I've paid for success:
I'm not home enough to have cats anymore.

If I've learned one thing in life it's:
You can achieve your goals without compromising your integrity.

People always think I'm:
Hard to find, because I'm a performer. I'm actually very findable- just go to rachelbartonpine.com and send me an email.

Prized possession:
The letters from my grandfather who passed away in 1999.

Personal heroes:
Anyone happily married for over 30 years- that's an impressive accomplishment.

If I could do it over again:
I would make sure I caught the "Clash of the Titans" and the Guns n' Roses/ Skid Row tours.

My fantasy is:
I'm throwing a huge party and every one of my friends from all over the world is there.

I knew I was grown up when:
I was 14 and was able to earn enough money as a violinist to help support my family.

I hope I never have to stop:
Exploring music and sharing it with people.

The one thing I can't stand is:
Any kind of discrimination.

People who knew me in high school thought:
That I would get over my obsession with heavy metal. It's ten years later, and I'm still headbanging!

A really great evening to me:
Performing in an acoustically gorgeous concert hall with some great musicians before a huge audience, going out to a delicious dinner with some cool people, then winding down by spending some quality time with my husband.

Favorite childhood memory:
Watching my sisters being born.

My most humbling experience:
Any time someone tells me that they enjoyed my playing.

If I could change one thing about myself:
I would have so much energy that I would never need to sleep.

Three words that best describe me:
Hardworking redheaded violinist.

Major accomplishment:
Becoming the first American and youngest person to win the gold medal at the J.S. Bach International Violin Competition in Germany.

The best time of my life:
When I'm on stage.

If I wasn't a musician:
I wouldn't be having nearly as much fun.
